2023 Season – what you need to know.

We’re about to kick off the 2023 Season, and if you’ve registered as a QBC member then you’re about to launch your competitive selves into a year of hard-fought battles at your favourite beach.

It’s the 45th year of QBC, and we want this year to be next-level for our members. For that, your committee has spent the off-season setting up membership benefits, more ways for us to get together, and some competitive changes.

Here’s what you need to know…

QBC Contest Info

  1. Comps run on the first Saturday of each month, from 7:30 am, except when there’s another event in Queenscliff. If we can’t run on the published day, we’ll try the following weekend. After that, the comp month is cancelled.
  2. First heat at 730 am sharp.
  3. You have to register through LiveHeats for each comp – we’ll open registrations the Monday of the contest week, and close it at 7 pm on the Friday night before the comp.
  4. No on-the-day rego. You have 5 days to register to surf. Don’t miss the Friday 7 pm cut-off.
  5. We publish the heat schedule on the morning of the comp after we’ve made the call to run.
  6. Your heat schedule for each of your family members is on your LiveHeats dashboard. It changes throughout the day, so come down early and stick around if you can.
  7. We won’t be doing double points this year.
  8. The best 7 out of 8 comps determine your point score for the year. This won’t change, independent of the number of comps we’ve run through the year.
  9. Follow QBC on Insty and the website for weekly updates.

Comp setups

It takes a lot of effort to put into the monthly comp, so any help from our club members is welcome.

  • The setup starts at 6:00 am
  • Contest calls are made at 6:30 am
  • 2 divisions will be responsible each month for setup, running the BBQ and pack-down. Age reps will keep let you know.

2023 Committee

There’s a change of committee in 2023, with Tim Quinn and Blaise Bell taking over as Co-Presidents.

Social Events

In 2023 we’ll be organising more opportunities for members to get together. Our new partnership with the Harbord Hotel gives us a get-together venue and some great benefits (coming very soon on the Harbord Hotel App!). This is an opportunity to meet more club members and make QBC even stronger.

Our Sponsors

We’ve secured a whole lot of exciting benefits from our new and existing sponsors.

We’ll be releasing details of all of these as they’re available, but you can look forward to exclusive club pricing at the Harbord Hotel through their member’s app, discount codes from the big brands, and more prizes for the best performances.

Please see our sponsors page, and support those who support us.

Community Events

The person who raises the most funds for QBC SurFebruary will be included in the QBC LifeLine Classic team.

As always, if you have a question, please use the gumby@ email address, or contact us through the website.

OH, and watch out for the new U18 Girls Division – it’s going to blow up!
