Good evening QRS QLS Rippers and members of the Greatest Club in the World,

September QBC Surfaid ”Makeawave’ Contest is complete!

Thanks to all the Gumby’s for helping out on the day. Huge shout out to Ra who manned the BBQ for 4hrs in the driving rain and still served up amazing eggs, bacon and sausages.

Congratulations to the 2010 rising star recipient Bryce Martiskan on his first and double points A grade win!!! So cool and the epitome of persistence. The contest was a special day for all as we raised a glass in honour of Steve ‘Teary’ Garth and everyone in the finals were on another level in his honour. The best ‘Garthback’ was the on the line and Lorne H had it in the bag until Bryce snatched it off him with his final wave to claim the prize purse.
Wave of the day was left in no doubt with Sammy P smashing a 9 with his forehand attack in his final. Groms are certainly coming of age!

Thank you very much Mick V for shooting the pics in less-than-ideal conditions. The legend continues and we all cannot appreciate it enough.

Congrats to all those that have given their time to represent QBC in this busy Teams season and big shout out the women’s Team for coming runner ups to Northy on the weekend. Super stars all over the club at the moment.

Up next the O40’s will take on whatever the Nation has to throw up and the Team will be announced soon.

Grom Camp 2022 will need to be confirmed by the 21/9/2022 so if you haven’t sorted your accom then lease do so as we will tally numbers next week and finish off the organisation of the best weekend of the year for the QBC Groms.(check previous newsletters for info)

First Saturday of each scheduled month is contest day.

  1. If Saturday is CONTESTABLE, we WILL run.
  2. If Saturday is NOT CONTESTABLE, we will make a call if Sunday is an optional alternate contest day.
  3. On Sunday, we will make a call to run or not run.
  4. If Sunday doesn’t look better on forecast, we will schedule for the following available non-public holiday weekend. You will have to re-register for this.

If the following available weekend is not contestable, that month’s contest is cancelled.

Conditions are always changing so we need some flexibility.

We WILL run the comp if conditions are contestable, even if it might be better the next day.

If you can’t surf on alternate days, you should contact Gumby on email or Instagram before 8pm on the night before the contest starts.
