This year the QBC grommets are getting their own comp.
All gumbys get ready for the sickest day of the year. We’re starting early, surfin’ heats and tag team all day.
It’s a groms shred-fest, judged by the QBC legends.
We’re getting prizes for all sorts of things, and after we’re done we go straight into the full QBC prezzo on the grass where we podium the winners for the year.
We can only fit 36 groms – 24 boys and 12 girls.
We’ll be picking surfers based on:
If you’re under 18, and in a grom division, then you’re invited to put your name down below to be considered.
24 Boys. 12 Girls. Separate divisions.
Round 1 and 2 everyone will surf in heats of 4. Where you place in that heat doesn’t matter – what DOES matter, is your wave scores.
We’ll take your best 2 wave scores from round 1, your best 2 wave scores from round 2, and add them together to get your total against everyone in your division.
The top 8 boys and top 8 girls will go through to a semi.
We run semi and finals just like QBC comps – top 2 progress to the final, and we crown a finalist at the end.
Anyone who doesn’t make the cut, goes to the Tag Team event. Each team has 1 girl, and 4 boys for a 60min heat.

If the following available weekend is not contestable, that month’s contest is cancelled.
Conditions are always changing so we need some flexibility.
We WILL run the comp if conditions are contestable, even if it might be better the next day.
If you can’t surf on alternate days, you should contact Gumby on email or Instagram before 8pm on the night before the contest starts.
