The Girls and Boys of QBC have had an absolute stonker at Kirra teams last weekend, with the boys coming 9th, and the girls slam-dunking a HUGE 2nd that came down to the last heat.
QBC sent 2 teams up to the annual Sisstarevolution Kirra Teams Women and Visual Kirra Teams Junior events last weekend.
Kirra Teams is a very prestigious event in the annual inter-club circuit, with the Open Men competing in March, and these 2 teams competing together in September.
We’ve been planning this trip for months after the very fun but challenging event last year, where our girls were stretched to their limit in some solid waves.
This year was a different story, with absolutely epic 2-4ft conditions and sunny warm weather at Duranbah.
The format is different to any other comp, in that each member of the 8-person team surfs their own 4-surfer heat against other clubs. Depending on your place in the heat, you are awarded points towards your team, 4 for first, 3 for second, 2 for 3rd, and 1 for 4th.
QBC’s teams were:
Women & Girls:
Gracie B
Olive S
Eloise T
Jessie S
Charley H
Dahlia A
Audrey H
Lily M
Jnr Boys:
Jai W
Ben W
Luke S
Conor M
Hunter S
Barclay S
Sammy P
Jack M
(There’s 4 sets of siblings, and 2 sets of twins in those teams!)
With 12 girls teams and 24 boys teams, both teams performed exceptionally well against most of the major clubs on the east coast and some of Australia’s biggest surfing names.
Gracie, Eloise, Lily, Luke, Hunter all took out wins in their heats, with a bunch of close 2nds.
Huge results all around, and QBC are really proud of the team. Well done.
