Grom Camp 2024

It’s on again. The annual QBC Grom Camp @ Tiona Holiday Park is scheduled for 17th and 18th August in 2024 and we would love a massive contingent of QBC Groms and parents to join in on the greatest Grom weekend on the QBC calendar.

The camp consists of 2 surf sessions on Day 1 (session 1 usually starts around 8.00am), and an afternoon session on Day 2, with the club putting on some food and drink in between the Saturday sessions, and the mob funneling through the Pacific Palms Rec club for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Our club coach Gezza will be there, as will other coaches from the club to maximise the footage and coaching from every session.

This has been a highlight of the QBC Grom calendar and we encourage as many groms to come along and be part of a great club weekend. It’s also a great weekend for the keen surf-parent as there are wave options galore in the Tiona-Boomerang-Blueys area, and to get to know other parents, coaches, and the vibe at QBC. See the dates, location and details for booking accommodation for Friday and Saturday nights below. There will be a small cost for each surfer to attend the camp, and the club does have some sponsorship to help cover some of the costs of the coaches and food. If you are keen and would like to come to the best Grom camp in the world, then see details below. If you have questions please email me and I will do my best to answer quickly.

Camp Dates

Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th August (All of the tag team comps start in September and the school holidays disrupt a later date. NSW Surfing appears to have no event information for August… So let’s go!).

Accommodation:

Most people book for both Friday and Saturday night as Tiona is a 3.5 hour drive from Sydney. Tiona Park Holiday Park have advised that they have put aside all of the Lodge Rooms, which have beds for 2, 4 and 6 guests and these can be booked by calling them directly on 02 6554 0290 and letting them know you are with the QBC group (this is the cheapest option with communal bathrooms and facilities). This accommodation will be held for the club for 4 weeks only and is first in basis! All other accommodation in the Tiona Holiday Park, such as cabins, camp sites etc can be booked through their website www.tiona.com.au or by calling them directly. There are plenty of cabins on the 16th & 17th as it is not the wedding season.
The behaviour of our groms at the last camp was exceptional. However, Tiona Park staff require that all groms are lodged in a room with full parental supervision. That means there are no communal rooms with just the groms and all groms need to be in rooms with a parent… no exceptions.
There is alternate accommodation options around the area, such as Moby’s Beachside Retreat at Boomerang Beach, and holiday rentals in the area. It is a normal weekend so there are plenty of options outside of the Tiona Holiday Park if that is more suitable to your family needs.

Let us know if you’re in!.
